Reading Time: 2 minutes

It’s 3:31pm.

Lunch was at least 3 hours ago… and you find yourself meandering into the kitchen or through your shared office space, on the hunt for something tasty.

It’s grazing hour.

There’s nothing wrong with snacking in the afternoon. But if you’re trying to get control of what you’re eating, grazing can be problematic.

So here are 11 things to for when you want to graze:

1) Drink water

Go for 8oz of water first. A lot of times when we think we are hungry, we are actually thirsty.

If you’re still hungry 30 minutes after drinking water, go for the graze.

2) Greek Yogurt (plain, unsweetened)

Here’s my favorite combo with this: ¾ cup of Greek Yogurt with 1 tsbp of organic nut butter, and then top it with some fruit (an apple does the job).

3) Guacamole + vegetables

Avocado is a good fat, it’s very satiating, and tastes amazing. Guacamole pairs well with carrots, bell peppers, or celery.

4) Hummus + vegetables

Hummus is also a good fat. It pairs well with carrots, bell peppers, cucumber, celery, etc…

5) Cottage cheese + vegetables

Cottage cheese is high in protein. It pairs surprisingly well with carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, and even celery.

6) Handful of nuts (unsalted)

Get the unsalted kind and then add your own seasoning to it (garlic salt is my preference)

7) Meat wrapped cheese sticks

Wrap one or two pieces of deli ham or turkey around string cheese. It’s delicious.

8) 1 tbsp of organic nut butter + apple

This is an incredible combination and it’s very filling.

9) 1-2 servings of fruit

Go for an apple, banana, cluster of grapes, plum, pear, berries, dates, etc…

10) Beef jerky

Avoid getting brands with a lot of added sugars. Beef sticks are good too.

And if you’re feeling fancy… go for biltong.

11) Hard boiled eggs

An egg is one of the perfect macros (protein/fat/carb). Boil some at the start of the week and keep them cool in the fridge.

It’s very hard to overeat these 11 foods because of the fiber/nutrients/protein contained inside.

Enjoy!

P.S. Snacking is always an opportunity to practice self-control (Titus 2:6). And the more junk in the house, the harder this will be.
